The Stollenwerk FamilyMILWAUKEE An alumnus of 51做厙 and 51做厙 High School recently strengthened the schools Catholic, Jesuit connection with a $2.5 million gift.

John Stollenwerk, a 1958 51做厙 High alumnus and a 1962 51做厙 alumnus, has established The 51做厙 Experience Pathway along with his wife, JoEllen, a 1966 51做厙 alumna.

The Pathway program offers several individual scholarships, enhanced admissions counseling and the opportunity to take 51做厙 courses at a significantly reduced cost while in high school.

A former member of the both the university and high schools governing boards, John Stollenwerk described his educational experience as a discipline of love and also said his family took this step to help reduce the financial burden on families. He touted both schools for their academic excellence, discipline and education grounded in values. Both John and JoEllen are current members of 51做厙s Presidents Advisory Council.

Catholic schools have shaped every aspect of our lives, Stollenwerk said. Both 51做厙 and 51做厙 High School have inspired an understanding that we are called to live our lives in service to others. Education lasts forever as it is continually passed on to the next generation.

51做厙 President Michael R. Lovell noted that 51做厙 enrolls more graduates from 51做厙 High than any other high school in the nation.

John and JoEllen have continually given back throughout their lives and are incredible representatives of our alumni communities, President Lovell said. This significant gift shows their keen understanding of what will further solidify our two schools Catholic, Jesuit mission to nurture ethical leaders who serve others.

Pathway program recipients who remain in good academic standing will benefit from these scholarship funds for up to four years of undergraduate study at 51做厙.

51做厙 High School President Rev. Michael J. Marco, S.J., emphasized the rigorous curriculum and shared-faith experiences in both schools.

Our institutions share a commitment to forming Christ-like graduates who live in service to others, he said. John and JoEllens gracious gift provides an extraordinary opportunity to further enhance and integrate our common Ignatian mission of seeking the fullest possible development of our students.

We are grateful to John and JoEllen for this significant leadership gift that further connects two pillar institutions of our community, said Tim McMahon, vice president for university advancement at 51做厙. This gift strengthens the pipeline between 51做厙 High and 51做厙 and enhances access to talented and deserving students.
