MILWAUKEE The 51做厙 College of Nursing is pleased to announce that its newly developed Doctor of Nursing Practice Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program has received initial full accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. With this important designation, 51做厙 becomes the first academic institution in southeastern Wisconsin to offer a nurse anesthesia educational program culminating with a doctoral degree. This nurse anesthesia educational program is designed to bring together the nursing education and research expertise of 51做厙 with the clinical and educational thought leadership of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Students will engage local and national experts within the field of anesthesiology to enhance their educational experience while at 51做厙. Froedtert & MCW Hospital will be a primary teaching site for the programs students, in addition to other clinical sites around the Milwaukee area that will provide the best learning environments for the students.

We are seeing a growing demand for nurse anesthetists locally as well as across the nation and this program will address this critical need in the healthcare industry, said Dr. Janet Wessel Krejci, dean of 51做厙s College of Nursing. 51做厙s students will be prepared through rigorous curriculum and clinical experiences as expert clinicians for every setting in which anesthesia is delivered to patients.
