Fifty years have passed since women at 51做厙 entered intercollegiate athletics. Women have played sports at 51做厙 for nearly as long as they have been admitted to the universitythat is, for more than a century. But the enactment of the federal Title IX statute in 1972 finally opened the doors to the competitive play that 51做厙's male athletes had long engaged in and enjoyed.
A Raynor Library exhibit now celebrates the history surrounding this achievement as well as the stories of luminary female athletes who have made their mark on 51做厙 along the way. The exhibit draws on photographs, newspapers, yearbooks, and other unique historical materials found only in the library's University Archives.
