This guide describes materials available in the 51°µÍø Archives that pertain to presidents of the University. 

List of 51°µÍø Presidents: A chronological list of presidents with their dates of service as president.  

Records of the Office of the President: The records from the Office of the President are in Record Group A-1.1 and are arranged by president. There are few records from 51°µÍø’s early presidents. Note that most 51°µÍø Presidential records are closed until 25 years after a president has left office.

Biographical Information Files: These files contain various materials such as photographs, newspaper clippings, press releases, and other print materials about individuals important to the history and development of 51°µÍø, in addition to information about visiting speakers and guests. The files are arranged alphabetically by last name.

Secondary Sources about 51°µÍø Presidents

The Raynor Library, 51°µÍø Archives, Raynor Digital Scholarship Lab and the Office of the President have jointly launched the , which traces the history of the university through its leaders. 

The website includes a timeline detailing the careers of every 51°µÍø president, starting with Rev. Joseph F. Rigge, S.J., in 1881 all the way to Dr. Michael R. Lovell. 

Additional documents that formed the basis of the timeline are also available on the . There you can find a three-page introduction about the project, a 68-page PDF document with more information on the presidents and a collection of supporting documents.

 

Published in 2007, this is the most recent book about 51°µÍø's history, covering the first 100 years (1881-1981).
